#GivingTuesday is a social media initiative that encourages people around the world to get involved in their communities, use their talents to help others and give back. #GivingTuesday has been celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving for the last five years and follows the frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This worldwide day of giving marks the start of the charitable season, and is a reminder to give back during the whirlwind of the holiday season.

#GivingTuesday marks one day out of the year as a call-to-action for people to join a social collaboration. According to their website, #GivingTuesday, "brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners - nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals - to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness." It is important year round to encourage and celebrate giving, but it is especially important during the holiday season. This is not only limited to donating a monetary amount, but volunteering your time, skills and talent to a cause(s) that you care about and believe in. There are many possibilities when choosing to support a great cause or organization.

How you can help The Valerie Fund

Our mission as an organization is to provide comprehensive healthcare services to children with cancer and blood disorders. By donating to The Valerie Fund, you are not only helping our patients, but their families as well. With seven Valerie Fund Children's centers located throughout the tri-state area we are committed to keeping these centers running through fundraising and donations. Your support provides programs and services such as social workers, palliative care programs and integrative medicine, transportation, educational specialists, Camp Happy Times, grief counselors and so much more. You can also volunteer at our events, at our main office, or hold your own fundraising event. However you decide to donate this season, please consider The Valerie Fund on #GivingTuesday and through the end of the year.
